The afternoon was heartily filled with char siew rice from Kay Lee, smelly tofu from Mini Star, braised duck rice from Sia Kee, durians in Marine Parade and i guess it is finally time to give our tummies a rest.

Choice of rest place - a cafe known as Maple & Market! I did have an agenda; to try the waffles that were said to be very nice! Its location in a quiet estate was also not very far from where we were!

What i didn't expect was how tiny the cafe was. To brand it as a comfortable chill out place is impossible with less than twenty seats even though cafe-hoppers might just visit for the sake of the star waffles.

Frankly, the one thing that caught my attention was the display of cakes at the counter! You know those cake counters often portrayed in Enid Blyton's books?

This is the real life version!

Buttermilk Waffles menu - we were not that keen in plain waffles with maple (at least not without any ice cream) and eventually placed our trust with caramelised banana, homemade caramel and walnuts.

Root Beer Chocolate Cake
Some of you might have remembered my fascination with novel root beer float cake i had at Wimbly Lu. Hence, i did have some expectation for this root beer chocolate cake which sadly, failed to meet my standard; save for the mildly unique pistachio frosting cream, this would have little difference from your average chocolate sponge cake.

Rose Cake
With raspberry cream cheese frosting and bits of caramelised pistachios, this would satisfy those who enjoy digging into densely packed cake. Definitely not welcome for a person who had too much over lunch. Furthermore, the taste was too sour for my liking. My friends, on the other hand, seemed to love it!

Buttermilk Waffle
An immediate head-turner and i don't think anyone can actually resist its delicious aroma! An example of East meets West - serving an ang moh dessert on a plate that was authentically Oriental.

The waffles are freshly made upon your order and a wait of roughly ten minutes is expected.

Texture was crispy although not on the same level as Wimbly Lu. What appealed to us more were waffle's accessories; the caramel sauce, when cooked together with the slices of banana, totally brought out the sweetness of banana whereas the walnuts ended every bite with nutty satisfaction!

Needless to say, we cleaned up the entire plate and were in fact pondering if we should order another one to further stuff our bulging stomachs.

Additional Information
In addition to providing baking classes, Maple & Market also functions as a retail store even though on a very small scale (seriously, with such limited space, it's already quite tok-gong to have a retail section)!

Interesting glasses for sale with verses only Singaporeans and Malaysians would understand.

There were ample choices for cake lovers to indulge the entire day. Adventurous foodie (i am looking you, Mr Kon) can consider the maple bacon on a cinnamon tea cake!
