Having been to Chatuchak Weekend Market so many times for the past decade; i have always wondered why the popular attraction didn't even attempt to beautify the place, especially the internal road which was honestly the widest passage you can find in the market.
In my last visit, things have markedly improved with eye-catching rainbow streamers running across the road for about 50 meters. It was a pretty sight against the boring building structures.
On the other end, dozens of umbrellas formed a canopy; while the rainbow streamers may represent the LGBT community in Thailand, the umbrella seemed to refer to the hot, wet and humid weather in the capital city!
Look closer and you can see these little buggers hanging from the same wires used to hook the brollies! Known as teru teru bōzu, they were talisman said to "bring good weather and prevent / stop a rainy day".
No wonder i didn't encounter any rain in the two days i was at Chatuchak Weekend Market!
