I would lying if i deny that the constant bombardment of Ah Tan's har cheong gai (shrimp paste chicken) on my social media didn't entice me to check out Yishun Park Hawker Centre.
It's in fact a major motivating factor; so much so that i didn't complain when i got a queue number of 734 when the one reflected on the LED display was 720!
In addition to their signature chicken wings, you can also opt for the set which might include rice and a sunny side up or even a shrimp paste chicken cutlet (which i am hoping to try the next time).
Wait was thirty minutes long and even though my tummy was growling; the hunger was negligible as i was more taken aback by the portion. We ordered six chicken wings, thinking they were just wingettes with the tips; turned out they were whole wings!
From initially thinking that we can't finish the food (since we ordered satay and Thai food too); it honestly didn't take us long to finish the entire plate as the deep fried chicken wings were extremely addictive and featured unbeatable crispiness with fresh, juicy meat!
In terms of the har cheong (shrimp paste) flavour, i honestly had stronger-infused ones elsewhere even though i would not brush away these ones from Ah Tan as they were perfect in their own ways. And i love the chilli sauce which tasted like a watery version of chicken rice chilli.
