During my national service days as a lobo dental orderly in Tengah Air Base, i often stopped by this coffeeshop right behind Choa Chu Kang bus interchange for a plate of expensive yet damn nice oyster omelette.
It has been a long hiatus since i last visited; so you can imagine my disappointment when i found that the stall is no longer serving oyster omelette! :( For a few minutes, i was deliberating whether i should just settle my dinner at the air-conditioned Lot 1 shopping centre instead.
Although i wasn't exactly craving for roasted delights, my curiousity was piqued when i saw the queue right in front of the above stall. An online search revealed two must-trys; roasted pork and char siew!
Rarely have i enjoyed char siew without excessivey charred and fatty bits. This would be that rare occasion; the char siew was skillfully roasted, resulting in a surprising moist tenderness that had also locked in the roasted flavour! Not the best i have (Kay Lee remains the champ) but still manage a very impressive second position.
On roasted pork, i have to declare beforehand that i am not a big fan and this might require further confirmation from seasoned roasted pork lovers like my secondary school friend, Jacky Zhihao. Personally, i found the roasted pork to be a bit too salty even though i simply could not resist the cackling of crispy pork skin!
Sinful yet so delicious and satisfying!
