I am not disciplined when it comes to food and when the craving strikes, i would likely go all out to satisfy it and at times, i can happily eat the same thing everyday!

Yong tau foo is seldom on my craving list and even i was taken aback by my pro-activeness to suggest having dinner at Yentafo Kruengsonge; a new eatery that took over the premise from Penang Street at One@Kent Ridge!

Okay, i don't know if Yentafo is indeed translated to Yong Tau Foo but according to the pictures on the menu, i don't think i am that far off. Strangely, the price was on the high side yet this didn't make me hesitate! Guess i just wanted to try something "new" that day.

Yentafo Kruengsonge (Soup) - served in a big bowl with the retro imprint of the iconic chicken, i was wondering if i had sufficient stomach space to clean up the content comprising of eight treasures. I regretted ordering jal-soh (spicy) as Alex would be helpless even if he wanted to share.

See how much food there was! Aside from spicy, you have two other options; dek dek (non spicy) and rod-jeb (screaming spicy).

Unlike our local yong tau foo, this would be the standard package and you wouldn't be able to own-self select the ingredients you prefer to have. I ordered soup partly because i didn't want carbohydrates but i missed out the indication of kway teow (nothing fascinating about it by the way) on the menu!

Eight treasures - I counted black fungus, slices of super soft, broth-soaked radish, fish cake, fish skin, tofu, beancurd, fish balls, a deep fried pumpkin stuffed dumpling (damn nice) and tons of crunchy stems! Honestly, i usually don't mind vegetable stems although the 'generosity' this time was overwhelming!

The most interesting thing about this Thai style yong tau foo was the red pinkish sauce -  thanks to the chilli paste that was mixed in (by me), it carried a intriguing punch to the taste buds that was both richly savory yet light on touch. Personally, i prefer our local version (i.e Xi Xiang Feng at Ang Mo Kio) even though this would be worth a try for someone looking to have something unique.
